KHUSHI LOW COST SANITARY NAPKIN
After realizing the seriousness of the issue related to menstrual health and hygiene, we started manufacturing units of the low cost sanitary napkin in 2010 with the help of various self help groups by manual methods . Our objective was to produce to popularize use of sanitary napkins among those, who, till date, were using traditional method during menstruation and were suffering from various health problems. Initially we were successful in creating awareness and generating income due to huge market.
INTRODUCTION ABOUT THE PROJECT
The objective of the project is mainly to produce low cost sanitary Napkins and create awareness amongst the Self Help Group (SHG) Women about the Health and Hygiene and use of Sanitary Napkins who were using traditional method during the time of Menstruation leading to various types of Health problems. The project will get the initial success in creating awareness and also generate income. But there are needs to scale the project considering the huge market and requirement of creating awareness among the Women.
WHAT IS INNOVATION WITH KHUSHI
Our product will be made by the Women, sold by women for women. The packing will done in Sanitized condition in zipped packet so that any woman desire to buy loose may do so as this Product is for rural women who may not position to buy the packet due to monetary problem. The low cost sanitary napkins are being produced and marketed by the SHG members in partnership with a voluntary organization-CANDLE Society. The NGO will extend technical and training and marketing facilities.
SHG representatives from villages of the identified areas will serve as promoter members. Out of them, 10 are board members. The board is headed by a chairperson/or his representative. A CANDLE nominated person and two other members (One from the NGO and a representative of the village) are other appointees who are responsible for the functioning of the productions centre. There are three committees comprising of four members each who manage the centre. The committees are: 1) Management Committee, 2) Training Committee, and 3) Monitoring Committee.
SHGs CAPACITY BUILDING
The Propose programme focuses on bringing about the much-needed development in the rural areas through organizing the rural poor into groups. The formation of Self-help Group is not a spontaneous process but one that requires careful nurturing. With this in view it has become necessary to train the Self-help Group members who are in the process of formation. The capacity of not only the development functionaries who will serve as facilitators but even those of the members of Self-help Group will have to be built up through a series of training modules which have already been prepared.. A total number of 9 training modules will be imparted to the identified formed by our NGO. This Proposed training on Capacity Building of the Self-help Group members promoted by our NGOs and make this credit linked programme more effective in the long run.
